🎃🍂 October: workshops, fall vibes & new art

🗓️ October Events
Well hello fall 🍂 Weather has been confusing - I don’t know if I will be wearing a t-shirt or a warm coat when I wake up, but one thing I know for sure, it’s a PSL ☕️ & all things autumn season. Which means there will be a section with seasonal decor in all my workshops this month (think pumpkins 🎃, ghost cookie cutters 👻; burnt orange & yellow colors & more 💛🧡).
Here is where you can make some pottery with me in October:
Sat Oct 5 | Zinqué Venice 3 PM
Sun Oct 6 | Canal Market 2 PM
Wed Oct 16 | Cafe Gratitude 6:30 PM
Sat Oct 19 | Zinqué Venice 3 PM
Sun Oct 20 | MUD\WTR: gather 10 AM [*NEW CLASS* paint ceramics]
Sun Oct 20 | Zinqué Malibu 2 PM
Tue Oct 22 | Moss Venice 6:30 PM
🏺 What’s New
[Workshops] Many of you have been coming to create with me in Venice Beach, Santa Monica & Malibu this past month. Some of you come prepared with projects you have thought about, some come without an idea looking to feel the clay & chat with others to figure out what you want to make. Both are great ways to create!
I mentioned above that fall colors & shapes are coming and I wasn’t joking. Does it mean we will all be making pumpkins - noooooo! All it means is that there will be a seasonal section on my decor table for those of you who want to embrace fall in your art (tho making 🎃 is definitely encouraged).
About the new class at MUD \ WTR on Oct 20: I will start experimenting with new classes each month to see what you like & to find more ways to share more of the art of clay. This month we will be painting premade mugs & bud vases. I will be bringing masking tape, stencils and even some of the glazes I use for my art. If you are looking to learn more about glazing/decorating ceramics, this is a workshop for you!
[Ceramics] October/November are all about refreshing my collections. I did some thinking around what Handmade in Venice Beach is & I think I am starting to really feel what shapes & glazes define it. Does it mean I will stop experimenting? Absolutely not - this is my favorite part of the art. It just means there will be some core collections on the website & a couple of rotating seasonal ones. Stay tuned!
Speaking of experimentation - I am in love with checkers design lately (the pink mugs are already gone). Will be making it in more colors for holiday markets. Not only do I love the way it looks, glazing process for this type of design is very satisfying. Wanna learn more and make your own? I will be showing this technique in the ceramics painting class on the 20th!
If you want to shop for my ceramics IRL, they are always at Boulevard coffeeshop on Abbot Kinney - I just restocked, so there should be plenty selection.

I have been excited about fall for a few weeks now, even though I love summer & it has felt quite short this year. I just think where I am with my art & teaching is asking for cozier weather.
I took 2 weeks off in September to travel to Europe to spend some time with friends & get inspired by different places & people. I spent some time in Corsica with its beautiful beaches & slower pace, walked 15-20k steps daily in Florence admiring some of the most beautiful art (and walking off all the pizza & pasta ofc) & went to Madrid to celebrate my friends’ wedding in the most beautiful location.
I came back fulfilled having spent time with some of my closest friends. As much as I loved my trip, I could not wait to get back to Venice Beach & to creating & teaching. Thank you for playing a part in making coming home so exciting!
Hope to see you in my workshops or around the neighborhood! Until next month, keep creating and stay inspired 💙
